Lexus,the luxury vehicle division of Toyota,has received a go-ahead for the production of its LF-CC concept car which was unveiled at the Paris show in September 2012.

Scheduled to be launched in 2015,the vehicle will be offered in both coupe and convertible formats featuring modular rear-wheel drive platform used in GS and IS models.

The new vehicle is expected to utilize shorter wheelbase of the IS model and GS's wider track.

The new LF-CC equipped with a 2.5L hybrid powertrain will achieve energy efficiency of about 2hp produced per gram of CO2.

The vehicle's new hybrid drive powertrain features a 2.5 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that is mated to a compact,high-output,water-cooled permanent magnet electric motor.

Production version of the new LF-CC will come as a hybrid,with a drivetrain similar to the one in the GS350h,providing about 300hp.
