Michigan-based Hastings Mutual Insurance has signed a new marketing partnership with National Farmers Union (NFU) to serve as their endorsed insurance carrier.

As part of the agreement, the company will also provide a premium discount on its farmowners insurance policies to all NFU members in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin, US.

Hastings Mutual Marketing vice president Dan Hill said the partnership will provide increased benefits for its mutual members.

"This partnership will also create a unique marketing opportunity for our independent insurance agents to service new farm insurance accounts," Hill added.

The partnership is also expected to support rural communities by providing farm safety training courses and materials, membership networking and educational events, community co-ops, as well as additional farm industry resources for mutual members of partner organizations.

Apart from expanding the company's presence in Midwest farm insurance market, the teaming agreement also aims to boost the union's association memberships in the region.
